WE WILL NEVER CELEBRATE ANY SORT OF RELIGIOUS CEREMONY IN OUR SCHOOL.
WE HAD SOME DIFFERENCES REGARDING THE MEDIUM, BUT IT WILL BE WRONG TO IMPOSE ANYTHING ON ANYONE. SO IT WAS DECIDED THAT ALTHOUGH WE WILL START WITH THE ENGLISH MEDIUM BUT WHEN ANOTHER SECTION IN THE SAME CLASS WILL BE REQUIRED, IT WILL SURELY BE BENGALI. THOSE WHO WERE IN FAVOUR OF ENGLISH MEDIUM WERE REALLY VERY GOOD TEACHERS. WE FELT THAT IF WE COULD KEEP BOTH THE MEDIUMS, THEN IT WOULD BE EASIER FOR THE TEACHERS TO DECIDE WHICH MEDIUM IS SUITABLE FOR THE STUDENTS AND THAT WILL BE OUR REAL TEST, AND AFTER ALL WE CANNOT STICK TO ONE PARTICULAR PRINCIPLE.
OUR CLASS AS WELL AS OFFICE ATMOSPHERE WAS VERY MUCH HOMELY. THE PERIODS WERE FIXED BUT NOT RIGID, FOR IF THE TEACHERS WANTED, THEY COULD HAVE TAKEN A LONGER TIME.
WE ENCOURAGED SELF-RELIANCE. WE NEVER THOUGHT OF ENGAGING SOMEONE IN OUR OFFICE. WE OURSELVES COLLECTED THE FEES AND ISSUED RECEIPTS……NOTHING SEEMED TO BE A BURDEN TO US.
WE FELT THAT THE SYSTEM OF EXAMINATION IS ALWAYS A WASTE OF TIME FOR THE STUDENTS OF A CERTAIN AGEGROUP. IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO SECURE 40 BUT THE THING WHICH IS MORE REQUIRED OR NECESSARY IS THE IMPARTING OF EDUCATION.
WE NEVER DICOURAGED ANYONE OR COMMENTED ANYTHING ADVERSE. FOR WE BELIEVED IN ENCOURAGEMENT AND IT IS TRUE THAT ENCOURAGEMENT BUILDS UP SELF-CONFIDENCE WHICH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS.
WE NEVER FAILED ANYONE.
IF A STUDENT WAS FOUND TO BE WEAK THEN WE USED TO CALL THE PARENTS, MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION AND TELL THEM TO EXPLAIN TO THEIR WARDS THAT THEY WERE NOT FAILED BUT THEY WOULD REPEAT THE CLASS BECAUSE OF THEIR PARENTS’ WISH.
WE USED TO TAKE OUR CHILDREN TO DIFFERENT PLACES LIKE ZOO, BOTANICAL GARDEN OR HORTICULTURE GARDEN.THEY WOULD CHANCE TO LEARN ABOUT THE ANIMALS AND PLANTS ON THEIR OWN, FOR WHAT THEY LEARNT FROM THEIR BOOKS WAS NOT QUITE COMPLETE. |
